REVIEW: Easy by Tammara Webber

Easy
Author: Tammara Webber
Pages: 316
Genre: Young Adult – Contemporary
Amazon: Easy

Synopsis. (Goodreads)

When Jacqueline follows her longtime boyfriend to the college of his choice, the last thing she expects is a breakup. After two weeks in shock, she wakes up to her new reality: she’s single, attending a state university instead of a music conservatory, ignored by her former circle of friends, stalked by her ex’s frat brother, and failing a class for the first time in her life.

Her econ professor gives her an email address for Landon, the class tutor, who shows her that she’s still the same intelligent girl she’s always been. As Jacqueline becomes interested in more from her tutor than a better grade, his teasing responses make the feeling seem mutual. There’s just one problem—their only interactions are through email.

Meanwhile, a guy in her econ class proves his worth the first night she meets him. Nothing like her popular ex or her brainy tutor, Lucas sits on the back row, sketching in a notebook and staring at her. At a downtown club, he disappears after several dances that leave her on fire. When he asks if he can sketch her, alone in her room, she agrees—hoping for more.

Then Jacqueline discovers a withheld connection between her supportive tutor and her seductive classmate, her ex comes back into the picture, and her stalker escalates his attention by spreading rumors that they’ve hooked up. Suddenly appearances are everything, and knowing who to trust is anything but easy.

REVIEW: 5 out of 5 stars

Easy is a book that I literally devoured in one sitting, I was captivated by this wonderfully intense love story by Tammara Webber.

Jacqueline has recently been left heartbroken when her boyfriend of three years, Kennedy who she followed off to college broke up with her. Not only having to deal with her devastation but she is also failing Econ and missed her midterm so needs to catch up to make up her mark.

Meanwhile, after Jacqueline is assaulted and almost raped by a frat brother at a party, she sets out to reclaim her life and not be the victim. It took her a while to talk about what had happened but she took the steps to make herself feel safer and to rebuild her confidence; I just wish she could have found the courage to go the police sooner.

She also finds herself drawn to her near-rape savior Lucas who is secretive, sexy and extremely talented. I loved the relationship they came to share and although there were a lot of things he kept from her (I will avoid what they are to avoid spoilers) he made up for with his caring and protective nature. His history was devastating but I loved the way his life had been turned around.

Jacqueline also finds herself drawn to her Econ tutor, Landon Maxfield who is mysterious, charming, extremely smart and witty and Jacqueline begins to look forward to his emails which are how they communicate. I liked this aspect of the story but wish the truth could have been revealed sooner to avoid the miscommunication and drama.

Easy deals with very real situations, there are relationship and school dramas; it deals with rape, bullying and harassment as well as family and confidence problems. Ms Webber dealt with these topics in a way that was compassionate, emotional and believable which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Easy was an incredibly sweet, intense and emotional read that had me riveted from the very first page. I loved the evolving relationship between Lucas and Jacqueline; I enjoyed the mystery surrounding Landon, the friendship she shared with her friend Erin was wonderful and the writing captivating.

Overall, Easy is a sexy, fun and at times emotional read with a plot that was believable. I’ll definitely be on the look out for more books written by Tammara Webber.
